The Talking Eggs

Recently I was at a reader & potential author, Christina’s house & she showed me a book by Robert D. San Souci, called The Talking Eggs. It is a fairytale just like Cinderella… but not as magical: no magical mice, or fairy godmothers. But instead, two young girls and a widow they were poor. One of the daughter’s names was Blanche and she did all the housework (like Cinderella) Rose on the other hand her and the mom would sit fanning themselves on the shady porch.

One day, Rose wanted a glass of cold water, but they were out, so Blanche needed to get water from the well which was a mile away. She went to get water but by the time she got back it was hot and there was no ice. Her mom and sister yelled and hit Blanche. She got scared and ran into the forbidden woods. The story goes on from there and involved, you guessed it, talking eggs and a witch (or is she?).
